Ontario Wedding Witnesses
Ontario requires two witnesses at every wedding. If you can't bring your own, we can provide them.
Every marriage in Ontario needs two witnesses who are physically present.
That means at least five people at every ceremony: the two of you, two witnesses and the officiant. Witnesses can't attend by video.
Your witnesses can be family, friends, colleagues or someone you met that morning. They don't need to be Canadian citizens or live in Canada. Most officiants, including the City of Toronto, ask that witnesses be at least 16 and able to understand the ceremony.
In the rare case of a question during registration, a witness may be asked to confirm they saw the marriage take place.
We provide two witnesses for $100 + HST. Because we coordinate two extra people, this service is available at our designated location rather than at a location of your choosing.
Bringing one witness and need one more? Ask: we'll tell you what we can arrange for your date.
