Why couples are looking for an alternative

Toronto's own civil weddings are popular, limited, and no longer the cheapest option.

The City of Toronto runs civil weddings at Old City Hall on select Thursdays and at the North York Civic Centre on Thursdays, Fridays and a few Saturdays. Old City Hall dates for 2026 are full, and 2027 dates are released a few months at a time. The City's public wedding chambers are at the North York, Scarborough and York civic centres; Toronto City Hall at 100 Queen Street West is where you apply for your licence.

We perform the same legal ceremony any day of the week, including evenings and weekends, at your home, a park, a restaurant, a studio, or a civic centre chamber.

Price and availability, side by side

All prices include HST. City figures are from the City of Toronto civil weddings page and wedding chambers page, checked October 2026.

How it works

  1. Get your marriage licence. In Toronto it costs $180 and is issued by appointment at City Hall or the North York Civic Centre (City of Toronto). It is valid anywhere in Ontario for three months.
  2. Pick your place and time. Home, a park, a restaurant, a studio, or a civic centre chamber you've booked.
  3. Bring two witnesses, or ask us to provide them.
  4. We marry you. A short, dignified civil ceremony, with vows and rings if you like, then the signing.
  5. We register it. We submit your licence to the Province. Once it's registered, you order your marriage certificate from ServiceOntario.

Still want the City Hall photos? Marry with us at a civic centre chamber or at home, then take your photos at Nathan Phillips Square or outside Old City Hall the same day.

Questions Couples Ask

Can I still get married at Toronto City Hall?

Toronto City Hall at 100 Queen Street West issues marriage licences. The City's public wedding chambers are at the North York, Scarborough and York civic centres, and the City runs its own civil weddings at Old City Hall and North York. We can marry you at any of the civic centre chambers or anywhere else you choose.

Is a ceremony with you just as legal as a City civil wedding?

Yes. Your marriage is legal in Ontario when it is performed by an authorized officiant with a valid Ontario licence and two witnesses, and then registered with the Province. We are authorized by the Registrar General of Ontario and register every marriage we perform.

Is it cheaper than a City Hall wedding?

Usually, yes. Our legal signing is $288 + HST ($325.44) at a place you choose. The City's civil weddings currently cost $441.95 at North York on weekdays, $481.50 on select Saturdays, and $566.25 at Old City Hall in 2027.

Old City Hall is fully booked. What can we do?

Book your licence, choose a date that suits you, and we'll marry you then, at home, outdoors, or in a civic centre chamber. You can still take your photos outside Old City Hall afterwards.
